Here are 5 tips for baking clean this Christmas!

  1. Avoid artificial dyes. They are everywhere, especially this time of year. Every candy cane, frosted cookie or sprinkles contain artificial dye unless you seek out plant-based dye options.

  2. You can swap the oil in any recipe for a non-inflammatory option with a high smoke point. Avocado oil works great in any recipe.

  3. Pay attention to the words on packaging. Corn is a genetically modified crop and is used to sweeten many things. When buying any kind of sugar, look for sugar that comes from cane sugar. Organic is always a plus.

  4. Be cautious of the amount of aluminum you intake. Aluminum can be found in many baking mixes, baking powder and can leach into your food when using aluminum foil to bake on. Aluminum is a heavy metal with many adverse health effects.

  5. Buy organic as much as possible. Buying organic eliminates so many toxins like glyphosate (weed killer sprayed on crops) which causes cancer, artificial dyes, and GMOs.
